Ward 8 COVID-19 Updates

TAXES:

‍Tax day has officially been moved from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 for both federal and state income taxes. This tax filing deadline includes both personal and business filers. For more information on your specific return type, please visit the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue website.

GENERAL:

Residents should continue to practice social distancing:

  • Stay home

  • Isolate yourself if you’re feeling sick

  • Frequently wash your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds (sing XYZ twice)

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or your elbow

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces in your home

SENIOR RESOURCES:

Resources for seniors in Washington D.C.:

  • Meal Delivery for Seniors (website)

  • Stores with special hours for seniors:

    • Safeway- Special two-hour shopping window, 7- 9 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays for senior citizens​

    • Target- Stores have special hours for at-risk shoppers during the first hour of stores opening on Wednesdays.

    • Walmart- Through April 28, Walmart stores will offer special hours every Tuesday morning one hour before opening (6-7 a.m.) for customers age 60 and older.

    • Whole Foods- Customers 60 and older can shop one hour before opening.
